Kopel, Pinhas

 Kopel, Pinhas

(1918-). Born in Poland. Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1924. Was a settlement guard and completed the first platoon commanders course of the Haganah. Volunteered for the British Army in 1941. During the War of Independence served as a battalion commander and subsequently served in the GSS. In 1953 founded the Border Police in the Israeli Police Force, and was its first commander. During the period 1964-72 was the Inspector-General of the Police Force. After retirement settled in the moshav of Kfar Bin-Nun.
